By Penny Power – Business Author & Human-Centred Speaker
This week, driven by the launch of a book co-written by members of BIP100, “Success Secrets for Living with AI”, I’ve been thinking about what it means to be human, really human, in a time when machines are learning to think, speak, and even create. I even turn to ChatGPT to be understood and guided through some of my vulnerabilities.
It’s incredible and, if we’re honest, a little overwhelming.
AI is changing the way we do business. It’s streamlining workflows, offering insights, and even writing copy. But in all this innovation, I find myself asking a deeper question:
Where do we, the messy, emotional, loving, hopeful humans, fit in?
I believe the answer lies in the one thing no machine can truly replicate:
The human touch.
- Connection.
- Empathy.
- Emotional intelligence.
- The quiet knowing of when someone needs to be seen.
That’s what I wrote about in my chapter of the new book. Each chapter tells a real story, rooted in values, honesty, and a desire to blend technology with humanity, not replace it.
We believe that AI should help us reclaim time, spark creativity, and deepen relationships, not remove our need for each other.
I’m so proud to be part of this book alongside these incredible contributors: all of us guided by the amazing Mindy Gibbins-Klein as our Coach and Editor:
Alexis Rotenberg, Austyn Smith, Colin Sloman, David Galea, Erik Schwartz, Leigh Allen, Onur Ibrahim, Paul Cameron, Peter Stansbury, and Tim Meadows-Smith. With a forward by Thomas Power.
Each of us shares a personal story and practical wisdom to help you navigate this new world of work, not just with efficiency, but with heart.
We are not separate from technology.
But nor should we be shaped entirely by it.
We still need warmth. We still need kindness.
We still need each other.
So this week, I invite you to ponder:
- How are you using technology to enhance your humanity?
- Are you reclaiming time for deeper connection, creativity, and compassion?
And… who in your world needs a little more of your human touch today?
